Sort of a chicken-and-egg thing: since there wasn't any 32-bit OS or software, why have a 32-bit computer? And contrariwise, with so little interest in 32-bit And these improvements are still with 32-bit Windows. Whether 64-bit Vista will offer a real benefit over that, remains to be seen. I presume it will,

Very disappointed with Vista's performance especially gaming!
I use Intel MotherBs and all my hardware on all computers are bios, MB, CPUs, all hardware 64 bit capable. The faster speed reported by one answering person to this thead is interesting but I wonder if it is simply a result of faster hardware rather than running MS 32 bit EW or Office 2007 on a Vista 64 Bit OS.

With LongWait Vista disappearing beyond the horizon again, Microsoft still doesn't have any serious 64-bit operating platform. And that is why you Windows lovers are here trying to score cheap victories over the 32-bit operating systems. Your beloved OS looks like a toy when compared to the big players.

I would rather expect some possible problems if you run a 64 bit OS (WXP x64 or Vista x64) on a 64 bit hardware, and then run a 32 bit application under that 64 bit OS, if the 32 bit compatibility layer of the OS has not been implemented properly. You can't run 64-bit code on a 32-bit compiled o/s. So sayeth Intel. Hmm. That seems a bit trivial. A question arises at this point: is Vista Home Premium compiled as 32-bit? If it is then you aren't getting the full benefit of the 64-bit processors. You can have a 64-bit OS that runs 32-bit applications.

There's nothing wrong with Vista! Depends on whether you're talking about 32-bit versus 64-bit modes.
